The NZ Dairy Workers Union – Te Runanga Wai U (DWU) is a strong, well-resourced and established Trade Union representing over 8,000 workers in the dairy processing industry across NZ. We have high levels of membership in some of the largest businesses in the sector and provide a range of services to our members from employment advice and advocacy through to a wide range of individual welfare and benefit programmes.

Due to an internal transfer, we are now recruiting for a new National Organiser to join our senior leadership team. This pivotal role will primarily involve the effective overall leadership and ongoing development of the Industrial Support Services team. There will be a strong focus on providing outstanding delegate training as well as industrial advocacy support to the wider organisation and key stakeholders.

This is a full-time position based in our Hamilton office which will also include regular travel around NZ as required for work commitments.

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will:

  • Have worked in senior roles in employment advocacy and/or the trade union movement.
  • Possess and display a thorough understanding of industrial and employment relations matters.
  • Be a proven leader that inspires and motivates others.
  • Be highly experienced in providing technical training and support in a relevant sector.
  • Have excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
